Mark 
Yannie has been playing Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute professionally 
in the Twin Cities area since 1999. He has played for many national acts, 
toured, and freelanced for years in the Orlando/Tampa, Florida area, and 
Cleveland, Ohio. Currently his ensembles: the Swing Trio, Jazz Quartet, Small 
Big Band, and Classical Duo can be heard locally in a variety of settings.

In the past, 
Mark has toured with Melissa Manchester, Wayne Newton, the Glenn Miller 
Orchestra, and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. He has had steady engagements with 
Norwegian, Princess, and Scandinavian World Cruise Lines, The Grand Floridian, 
and Seaworld Renaissance Hotels, and has also played as a back-up musician for 
many entertainers including: Rosemary Clooney, Vic Damone, Al Martino, Patti 
Page, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Rich Little, Bob Hope, Martha Raye, Bobby 
Rydell, Lou Rawls, George Burns, Carol Channing, Don Rickles, Dianne Carrol, 
Frank Gorshin, Charo, Martha Raye, Duke Daniels, and Jack Jones. He has worked 
as a pit musician in Tampa, Orlando, Minneapolis, and St. Paul, and as an 
auxiliary member of the Jacksonville Symphony. Mark has taught as an adjunct at 
the College of St. Benedict/St. Johns University, currently works as a woodwind 
specialist at Hopkins High School, and teaches privately. 
Mark 
Asche, Pianist and Organist, is known as an active performer and 
composer in the Minneapolis/St. Paul jazz, blues, gospel, and commercial music 
communities.  He has played with: Kenny Loggins, Johnny Adams, Bob Mintzer, Bob 
Berg, Mojo Buford, Lynwood Slim, Byron Stripling, Alberta Adams, Paul Wertico, 
and Joey DeFrancesco. Mark has done commercial recording and arranging, is a 
regular in many area musical groups, and has performed regularly with: Dave 
Karr, Irv Williams, Eric Gravatte, Ed Berger, Pete Whitman, Bobby Peterson, Phil 
Hey, Gordy Johnson, Gordy Knudtson, Brian Gallagher, Charmin Michelle, The 
JazzMN Big Band, Gospel virtuosi Robert Robinson and Sara Renner, Jennifer 
Grimm, and the legendary Apollo Theater trumpet player Jimmy Brown.  He can 
be heard on over 40 CDs by such artists as: Brian Gallagher, The Senders, Keith 
Boyles, Lynwod Slim, The Hornheads, Mojo Buford, Dave Graff, and Merle Knudson.  
Mark is currently a member of the Cedar Avenue Big Band, The Twin Cities Jazz 
Imports, St. Cloud State University Faculty Jazz Ensemble, and the Yannie Jazz 
Trio and Small Big Band. Mark has given master classes at The McNally-Smith 
School of Music, Minnesota State University, and teaches privately. Steve Pikal plays String Bass and Trombone and is a much in demand freelance player in the Metro area. He has done many live performances, toured, and recorded extensively in the areas of Pop, Jazz, and Traditional Jazz music. Steve has toured with the Artie Shaw Orchestra and backed up people such as Margaret Whiting, Bob Hope, Cab Callaway, and Janet Jackson. He currently tours with the Barbary Coast Band and plays at Jazz festivals mixing in with many different bands and guest artists. When at home in Minnesota, you can find him freelancing with the Wolverines, Bill Evans Jazz Band, Reuben Ristrom, the Mouldy Figs, and the Yannie Jazz Trio and Small Big Band. He also works with many local singers such as Arne Fogel, Maud Hixon, and Debbie Duncan. |
